Traditional Breed
All out Shetland sheep are coloured usually with patterned fleeces and as lambs they are really lovely.
These sheep have not been altered by faming methods over the years so they retain their hardiness, ease of lambing and great mothering skills.
It is not unusual to see a ewe attack a dog or fox and an old girl of mine, at the age of 12 dealt with the sheepdog, scaring him away! Not ideal for the dog's training!
A Mind of Their Own
These young girls are under 12 months old and are very 'bouncy' and full of fun. This can be annoying when they don't want to go where we want them to go but we usually leave at least one old sheep with them so she will lead them for us!
